Proceed
with Caution: I am a fairly cynical person with spurts of euphoria, call me
bipolar, depressed, schizophrenic or any other clinical psychological term but
I speak my mind, always the truth and fight to do what I say.
What is meant
by power? In Speilberg’s ‘Schindler’s
List’ movie, the lead character says one of the most beautiful and
profound meaning for power “Power
is when we have every justification to kill, and we don't. That's what the
Emperor said. A man steals something, he's brought in before the Emperor, and
he throws himself down on the ground. He begs for his life, he knows he's going
to die. And the Emperor... pardons him. This worthless man, he lets him go.
That's power, Amon. That is power.” These words always bring me goosebumps.
So this kind of power the power
which the emperor wields so easily from where did he get it? The armed men who
surround him or the wise advisors who support him? A person like him would have
taken that power by force and kept it that way without either of them.
Whenever someone talk about
power the scene that comes to my mind is someone who can order people around
and has control over me. Like my head master from school, my parents, my
lecturers in college. You feel powerless in front of them. But should we
compare this power which they have with that of the awe inspiring power those
emperors wielded?
No it’s not scalable to such a
level of life and death but the power they use is something subtle, sharp, and
more affecting. How can it be more affecting?
Self-Esteem, this word is freely
thrown around nowadays the basic understanding of this over used word is how
much the person respects himself in this wretched world. There a huge amount of
people talking about it so I am just adding to the group saying that the power
these controlling people use affect this self esteem.

Shit! Too many videos... Google
it yourself.
Let me tell you a story. It is
Sunday morning you are on your way to meet your friend, then to a movie along
with her. You take the usual bus route and meet the usual conductor and make
small talk with him. The bus has floor space but all the seats are taken, so you
hold the over head support and stand leaning on the support pillar. You text
your friend that you will reach by 20 minutes. Now you notice some stranger
smiling at you, you have never met him before so you avert having an eye
contact and look pointlessly into your mobile. You get down at your stop and
notice the person who had smiled at you looks a little sad and angry.
Now this power, smiling at a
seemingly random stranger, maybe the stranger would have helped you out to give
change to the conductor who asked you to get down the bus because you did not
have enough money. Or maybe you looked a little familiar and he gave you a
smile. Your power might have made someone to rethink helping others or even
smiling. What happened was no one’s fault but a simple smile had the power.
We all have some kind of power, we do not realise that. Even just a realisation of that power wouldn’t solve anything. The question is how do we use that power? When we don’t even realise having something, how do we learn to use that? Power is psychological. It is like fire, either you burn or burn the people around you.
I believe solution to any problem comes with understanding it completely and knowing how the problem affect its surrounding. If we could answer these questions then the solution that we think will be the best can be perfected along the way.
So what is the point of the power? You use your power wisely. Find out where your power lies, with great powers come great responsibilities. (Yes, Uncle Ben told this, and yes he is from fiction Spiderman, so what? It is still true.)
Believe
All. Trust none.

Rationalism may be a key thing to solve a problem or using something wisely.
ReplyDeleteIf Rationalism is making both involved happy then it's the key. But we can rationalise any situation to appease our consciousness. It's a double ended sword cuts both sides.
